Why would they feel guilty? They were not the ones who hacked the website and the list is already readily available on the internet irrespective of what thepasswordproject does. This is fascinating from the perspective of network security alone.
The headline is wrong, its not 4.6 m passwords its 4.6 m words. Its 750.000 Accounts, Email:Passwords, mostly working, just get the torrent yourself to give a little insight of the impact, if you were present on the leak day you might have seen that those combinations are mostly valid ones, some dupes some fakes but about 70% valid. paypal accounts, facebook, gmail, hotmail, yahoo have been confirmed.
I want to know who the 1032 people are with a 32 character password on *youporn*. also I want to find this dump, I don’t care about account names or emails but I’d like the passwords to add to my list.
They’re probably Lastpass or other password vault users who habitually use max supported length passwords. The passwords are probably mostly gibberish.

4.6 million people registered? Did they feel guilty after finishing?
I expected ["stewardesses"](http://www.helium.com/items/844304-longest-word-typed-with-only-the-left-hand) to be higher up on the list.

no-one can spell that
Woosh?
Sure they can, in fact it’s the longest word you can type using only your left hand. Which may not be so important to the lefties of the world….

I don’t even want to know how it is that you knew this bit of information.
It was in an xkcd a while back

I wanted so badly to make this joke in another thread the other day, but I just couldn’t work it in cleanly.

I see "sex", but I don’t see "love" or "secret".
You forgot "God".
It’s simply frightening to me the number of people that actually get ACCOUNTS on these sites.
What tool would one use to analyse the Data?
When I read the first one, I thought you were just making a joke about people’s taste in porn. Now I understand a little more deeply.
Perhaps they used 32-character pass phrases. For example: *I want dirty, nasty, housewives!*
I get the reference, but "love" just seems an inappropriate pw for a porn site.
http://thepiratebay.se/torrent/7052511/youporn.com.tmp.7z that’s the dump if anyone wants it.
thanks
I just updated the analysis using a better parse and filtering method.
